Paper Flowers

your colors fragment at the seams
and they leave traces of their lives
along your mother’s hardwood floors
making a path to the room you have under lock and key
so i sit
i sit and wait for the hallway to get bigger
and your opinion of me to go deeper
all the while the sun still dances with the moon
and the flowers send kisses to land on your eyelashes
and i wonder
will i ever bloom
